The big buzz question Is Email Getting Taken Over By Social Media? The answer is NO! Social media is great for people to stay in touch, but it will never replace email. If anything the major email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail) will replace social Media. Probably not, but it more likely then Social Media taking over email.

Both these technologies serve different purposes. I keep my linkedin account separate and it links to my email. The good thing about social media is that no spam comes through. The bad thing is that you cant get emails from newsletter that you sign up for. If social media whats to make a run replacing email they need to give there users a physical email address like xyz@facebook.com or who ever the social media site is.

Right now you need to log in with your email address so I cant see email ever get replaced. Email wont go away. It wont happen.
